PRACTICAL INSTALLATION GUIDE
EV Charger Installation Quote: Compare the Full Scope
Published 28 October 2026 · Updated 28 October 2026 · Vasudha EV editorial team
Compare EV charger installation quotations against the same site brief. Separate the charger from electrical enabling works, cable routes, civil preparation, testing, handover and ongoing support. A lower equipment price alone does not explain the total work needed to make a charging location usable.
Your enquiry checklist
- Same site, vehicles and demand assumptions
- Charger model, quantity and supply responsibility
- Measured or assumed cable lengths and routes
- Distribution, protection, earthing and enabling works
- Civil preparation and property access
- Testing, acceptance and handover responsibilities
- Software, connectivity and recurring charges, if applicable
- Maintenance, warranty interfaces and parts dependencies
Give every supplier the same starting brief
Describe the intended users, vehicle types, parking duration, proposed number of bays and location. Share a parking layout, photographs, supply information and any selected charger specification. For a fleet, add vehicle return times and dispatch windows. For a society or office, explain parking access and how users will be added.
Separate equipment from the work around it
Ask the proposal to distinguish charger supply from mounting, distribution equipment, cable lengths, civil preparation and installation labour. Record assumptions about routes, trenching, foundations and weather exposure. If a site visit is still required, identify which quantities or prices depend on that review.
Make interfaces visible
A project can involve an owner, equipment OEM, installer, electrical contractor, utility and charging-platform provider. Ask which party is responsible for each interface. Where a connected platform is proposed, clarify software charges, connectivity, access permissions and equipment compatibility. A platform feature mentioned in a proposal should be tied to the actual product and agreed scope.

Agree testing, handover and support
Identify the installation checks, OEM commissioning assistance where needed, acceptance records and equipment documents to be provided. Ask who will report and investigate faults, whether support depends on warranty arrangements and how parts are sourced. If an AMC is proposed, compare the included tasks and exclusions as carefully as the initial installation price.
Review commercial assumptions together
Compare taxes, payment stages, delivery assumptions, variation handling and recurring charges. State how changes to cable routes, supply conditions or site access will be handled. For a public charging business, assess demand and operating costs separately from the equipment and installation quote; neither an advertised charger rating nor a site’s passing traffic establishes investment returns.
Use your brief to start a conversation
You do not need a final design to enquire. Share the site location, use case, photographs and the decision you are trying to make. Vasudha can discuss installation, infrastructure, maintenance or project-partnership requirements around the information available and the next steps your site needs.
